The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has attributed the delay in the payment of June salaries to a technical glitch reportedly affecting accounts domiciled with Zenith Bank.

In a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, the OAGF acknowledged receiving multiple complaints from federal civil servants regarding unpaid salaries for the month of June.

“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the delay in salary disbursements across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) was due to a network malfunction on the part of Zenith Bank Plc,” Mokwa stated.

He expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, noting that the issue had disrupted the financial stability of many public servants.

“We understand the frustration and hardship this may have caused, especially considering the critical role timely salary payments play in the lives of government workers. We sincerely apologise for the disruption,” he said.

According to Mokwa, efforts are already underway to resolve the issue. The OAGF is reportedly working closely with Zenith Bank and other relevant service providers to reprocess all failed transactions as quickly as possible.

“We urge affected civil servants to remain calm. Concrete steps have been taken to isolate the problem, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone receives their salaries without further delay,” he said.

In addition to the salary delay, Mokwa noted that the office remains committed to clearing the outstanding four-month arrears of the N35,000 wage award once the June payments are fully addressed.

He reaffirmed the OAGF’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and efficient payroll management.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of federal workers during this period. The welfare of government employees remains a top priority,” Mokwa added.
