Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has announced that the late former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, will be laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, located in the Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Government House in Katsina on Monday, Governor Radda disclosed the burial arrangements following the passing of the former president in London.
“The burial arrangement for our father, the late President, who passed away yesterday in a hospital in London, has been concluded after consultations with his family and close associates,” the governor said. “The body is expected to arrive in Katsina by 12 noon on Tuesday, and the burial will take place in Daura by 2:00 p.m.”
Governor Radda expressed deep condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the loss of his predecessor.
“On behalf of myself, the government, and the good people of Katsina State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the Nigerian people, and especially His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. May Almighty Allah grant us the strength to bear this loss,” he said.
Recall that former President Muhammadu Buhari died on Sunday at the age of 82 while receiving medical care at a hospital in London, United Kingdom.
In response to the development, President Tinubu directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria for burial.
