The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina State on Tuesday, ahead of his state burial in Daura.
President Bola Tinubu led a high-level delegation to receive the late President’s body, which was flown into the country aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft from London, United Kingdom.
Also present at the airport were state governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and other top government officials who gathered to pay their respects.
Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in a London hospital, is to be laid to rest in his hometown, Daura, in accordance with Islamic rites and national protocol.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had earlier confirmed during a press briefing on Monday that the late President’s body would arrive in Nigeria by noon on Tuesday.
