The Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, has dismissed viral audio claims that the agency shut down the Tummy Tummy noodles factory in Anambra State and banned tinned tomatoes and Maggi seasoning cubes.
Adeyeye emphasized that these allegations are entirely false and originated in October 2023, having been thoroughly investigated at that time with no wrongdoing found.
NAFDAC Boss confirmed the agency has conducted an unscheduled inspection of the Tummy Tummy factory, collecting samples of four noodle variants which were tested at the agency’s Agulu Laboratory and met all safety and quality standards with no violations detected.
The misleading audio, created by an individual falsely claiming to represent NAFDAC, alleged harmful preservatives like acetyl methyl were in the noodles. NAFDAC found no evidence to support these claims and reiterated that the company complies fully with regulations.
NAFDAC urged the public to ignore the false audio and avoid spreading unverified information while reaffirming its commitment to protecting public health by ensuring only safe and properly regulated food products are available to Nigerians.
