Lawan hails winner of global English competition, Nafisa Abdullah

The President of the Ninth Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has congratulated Nafisa Abdullah Aminu on her outstanding performance in the English Language Skills Debate held in London.

In a statement on Tuesday, Senator Lawan described her victory as the world’s best in English language skills as an inspiration that illuminates the potential of young minds in Nigeria and beyond.

The statement reads in parts, “On behalf of the people of Yobe North Senatorial District, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a brilliant 17-year-old from Yobe State, for her extraordinary triumph at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom. “Your victory as the world’s best in English language skills is an inspiration that illuminates the potential of young minds in Nigeria and beyond.”

The Senator commended the Yobe State Government for their commitment to prioritising education and investing in opportunities that empower youth to compete and succeed on the global stage.

“I stand firmly in support of Governor Buni in putting education at the forefront of our services to the people of Yobe State, and ensuring that talents like yours continue to bring honour to our land,” he added.

Senator Lawan expressed immense pride in Nafisa’s achievement, saying it reflects the rich talent that exists in Yobe State.

“You have brought honour to our beloved state, our nation, and indeed, to the entire African continent, proving that with hard work and determination, borders and barriers can be transcended,” he said.

The Senator concluded by congratulating Nafisa on her historic feat and encouraging her to continue striving for even greater heights.

“You have ignited a spark of hope and ambition in countless hearts across Yobe and Nigeria. I encourage you to continue pursuing your dreams with unyielding passion,” he added.
