Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage, in a heartfelt interview with Zeze Mills on Friday, revealed that her only experience of true love has been with her son, Jamil.
The 45-year-old singer reflected on her past relationships, concluding that what she once thought was love was merely infatuation.
“I’ve never felt true love except with my son. Looking back at my relationships, even my marriage, I realise it wasn’t love,” she shared.
Savage expressed uncertainty about whether romantic love is destined for her.
“I’ve tried repeatedly, so maybe love isn’t meant for me in this lifetime,” she said.
Savage, who has been open about her romantic struggles in the past, however, questioned whether love was ever meant for her.
“Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again, so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she added.
In December last year, the songstress opened up about her divorce from Tunji ‘TeeBillz‘ Balogun, her ex-husband.
The duo, who married in 2013, divorced in 2018 after efforts to resolve the differences in their marriage proved abortive.
The ‘Kele Kele’ hitmaker had claimed her ex-husband was responsible for the divorce. She said at the time, she was struggling with postpartum depression after giving birth to their son.
The singer said she faced intense criticism from the public, with many attacking her without giving her a chance to share her side of the story.
She also recalled how some prominent figures advised her to remain silent about the incident to protect her reputation.
