The Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency has commenced the disbursement of N150 million in cash relief to victims of the 2025 flood disaster across 15 local government areas in the state.

The initiative fulfils a pledge by Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto to support communities hit by the floods.

The exercise, which kicked off on Saturday at the Sokoto South Local Government Secretariat, had in attendance officials of SEMA and the Sokoto South LGA leadership jointly flagging off the distribution.

Representing the LGA Chairman, Hon. Ya’u Muhammad Danda, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Faruk Umar Garba (Soccer) applauded the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to the welfare of residents.

Sokoto SEMA Special Adviser, Hon. Aminu Liman Bodinga was represented by the Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Sambo Junaidu, who noted that the intervention was timely and critical at easing the hardships caused by the floods.

Professor Junaidu disclosed that each LGA would receive N10 million and urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds to rebuild livelihoods and recover from the disaster.
