The federal government has established a technical sub-committee under the National Economic Council (NEC) to drive Nigeria’s livestock development, aiming to boost economic growth, food security, and national unity.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, said the smaller technical team will translate existing policies into a practical implementation roadmap for NEC approval, speeding up progress.
The move complements a high-level livestock committee chaired by Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris.
Bagudu highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s personal commitment to livestock, noting the creation of a separate Ministry of Livestock Development and his role as head of the Presidential Committee on Livestock Development.
