The Lagos State Government, in partnership with C40 Cities, has launched the Ikosi Fruit Market Biodigester Plant, a waste-to-energy facility that converts organic market waste into biogas, electricity and fertiliser.
Commissioner for Environment Tokunbo Wahab said the project supports sustainable waste management, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and turns everyday environmental challenges into practical solutions.
The plant will process organic waste from the Ketu Fruit Market, helping Lagos advance its circular economy and Climate goals.
