US President Donald Trump says he believes Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is alive but “damaged.”
Khamenei, whose father was killed on the first day of the US–Israel attacks on Iran, has not been seen publicly since his selection by a clerical assembly.
In comments read on state television, he vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and warned neighbouring countries to remove US military bases or face Iranian action.
