Nigeria Customs seizes ₦1.35bn contraband, records major revenue increase in Ogun Command

The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, Idiroko, has seized contraband valued at 1.35 billion naira and generated over 285 billion naira in revenue between February and March 2026, marking a 1,082% increase compared with the same period last year. Acting Area Controller, Olukayode Afeni, disclosed the seizures at a briefing, noting that items included two antiquities, 2,539 kegs of vegetable oil, 4,325 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 1,204 bags of imported rice, 2,547 parcels of cannabis, 545 kegs of petrol, and assorted used clothing, footwear, and vehicles. He said the antiquities will be handed over to the National Museum in Abeokuta following expert appraisal, adding that the command also recorded a surge in exports, moving 95 metric tons of goods worth over 305 billion naira compared with zero trade during the same period in 2025.
