Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the commencement of a process for the appointment of new permanent secretaries in the state public service, directing suitably qualified civil servants to submit expressions of interest.

In a statement signed by the Head of Service, Mrs. Ngozi Iwouno, applicants are required to be confirmed officers within the Anambra State Public Service, on the directorate cadre.

They are expected not to be below the rank of Deputy Director and not above that of Director, with at least two years remaining before retirement.

The notice also invites qualified officers outside the Anambra State Civil Service, provided they are within the same directorate cadre.

Interested candidates are to apply through the state government’s online portal, print and submit their forms to the Office of the Head of Service in Awka on or before April 8, 2026, while only shortlisted applicants will proceed to the next stage of the selection process.

Permanent secretaries act as the administrative heads of ministries, responsible for ensuring smooth operations and implementation of government policies.

The latest move initiated by Governor Soludo is aimed at strengthening the civil service and ensuring effective management of public service affairs and improving governance.

There are currently 19 permanent secretaries and two auditors-general in the Anambra State Public Service.
