The Presidency says significant progress has been made toward establishing state police, with constitutional amendments expected soon.

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, said after a meeting in Abuja that discussions on the proposed framework began months ago and have now reached the stage of finalising legal and constitutional changes.

He added that while the amendment process is ongoing, an enabling law will follow once the constitutional provisions are concluded.
