Confusion has trailed reports of the release of abducted victims in Igbope, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, as both the Council Chairman and the Oyo State Police Command insist the victims remain in captivity.

The denial followed viral videos showing residents celebrating with Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho, after claims emerged that the hostages were freed following his ultimatum to suspected kidnappers and Fulani community leaders.

Authorities described the reports as false and misleading, stating that security agencies are still working to rescue the victims.

The police also clarified that there is no confirmation that the captives have been released.
