Newly employed civil servants in Oyo State have rejected the state government’s reintroduced contributory pension scheme, arguing that it could worsen the economic challenges facing workers.

In a petition addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde, the workers, employed in January 2025, appealed to remain under the previous pension arrangement that was in place when they joined the civil service.

They said maintaining the former scheme for their category would promote fairness, boost workers’ morale and strengthen confidence in the government’s commitment to the welfare of public servants.
