Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun says he is confident that all 36 State Houses of Assembly will approve the constitutional amendment bill seeking the creation of state police.

Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting, Abiodun described state policing as a major step towards improving Nigeria’s security system, commending President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for advancing the proposal.

The governor said state police would boost community security, improve the police-to-citizen ratio and create more employment opportunities, while stressing the need for proper oversight, funding and operational guidelines to prevent abuse.
