France have become the first nation to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Morocco 2–0 in yesterday’s quarter-final.
Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring in the second half before Ousmane Dembele sealed victory with his fifth goal of the tournament.
Didier Deschamps’ side will now face either Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals as they bid to reach another World Cup final.
The defeat has also ended Africa’s participation at the FIFA World Cup.
Of the 10 African teams at the tournament, only Morocco reached the quarter-finals, while Egypt also advanced to the Round of 16 before losing to Argentina.
