The Oyo State House of Assembly has backed Governor Seyi Makinde’s call for an independent international investigation into the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

The lawmakers said a probe by relevant international bodies would help uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident, strengthen Nigeria’s security system and prevent future attacks on schools.

The Assembly stressed that the request was not an indictment of security agencies or the Federal Government, but a move to promote transparency, accountability and improved counter-terrorism measures.
