The Edo State Government has closed its case in the trial of four suspected kidnappers accused of abducting a woman in Benin City after presenting seven witnesses before a special court handling kidnapping and cult-related offences.
Prosecutors tendered video evidence, written statements, a firearm, a vehicle and mobile phones, while the defence cross-examined the witnesses and challenged some of the exhibits.
The court adjourned the case until July 24 for the defendants to open their defence, as the state reaffirmed its commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crime.
