A series of crashes on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has left one person dead, two others injured and caused heavy traffic congestion on both carriageways.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the first crash, involving five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna, occurred in the early hours of today on the outbound lane to Ibadan and was caused by excessive speed and loss of control, while the second crash involving a commercial bus later occurred on the inbound lane to Lagos due to brake failure.
Speaking on the accident, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Sector Commander Kehinde Hamzat and LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki said rescue and recovery operations are ongoing while normalcy will return soon.
Motorists are strongly advised to use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays from the Kara-Ojodu Berger corridor until recovery operations are concluded.
