The Federal Government says lasting peace and security in the South-East are vital to Nigeria’s unity, economic growth and national development.

Speaking at the 2026 South-East Regional Security Summit in Umuahia, Information Minister Mohammed Idris said security requires collaboration among government, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and communities.

He reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to protecting lives through improved intelligence, stronger security operations and youth empowerment.

Also at the summit, Defence Minister Christopher Musa, Abia State Governor Alex Otti and other stakeholders called for greater regional cooperation, intelligence sharing and community participation to tackle insecurity and promote lasting peace.
