The African Democratic Congress has urged the House of Representatives to recommit the proposed State Police Constitution Alteration Bill to a fresh legislative process, insisting the amendment must be transparent, constitutional and inclusive.

The party said it supports the creation of state police to address insecurity but expressed concerns over reports that some lawmakers allegedly voted through WhatsApp and that constitutional procedures were not strictly followed.

The ADC called for wider public scrutiny and proper debate on the bill to ensure public confidence.
