President Bola Tinubu has raised concerns over recurring xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against Africans and other nationals in South Africa before the African Union, AU.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the AU Extraordinary Session in Luanda, Angola, Tinubu urged African leaders to take collective action and place the issue on the agenda of the AU’s 40th Ordinary Session in January 2027.

The President said such attacks undermine African unity and peaceful coexistence, calling for stronger dialogue, preventive diplomacy and collective efforts to protect the safety, dignity and rights of Africans across the continent.
