The Nigerian Air Force has taken delivery of five new helicopters to boost its airpower capabilities and support ongoing security operations across the country.
The platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters from Leonardo Helicopters of Italy and two H-125 helicopters from Airbus.
The remaining seven of the 10 AW-109s acquired by the Federal Government are expected before the end of 2026.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the helicopters would strengthen intelligence, surveillance, combat search and rescue, armed escort and support for ground troops in operations against terrorism, kidnapping and banditry.
