The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has warned bakers in Niger State against using banned substances, including potassium bromate and saccharin, in bread production.
The agency’s state coordinator, James Kigbu, also cautioned against unauthorised labels and advertisements, warning that violators risk bakery closures, fines and prosecution.
NAFDAC urged bakers to use only approved ingredients and maintain proper hygiene, while the Master Bakers Association said it is strengthening monitoring and testing of bread samples for compliance.
