Lagos State and California have formally established a sister-state partnership covering technology, trade, creative industries, climate, infrastructure, health and education.

The agreement was signed in Sacramento by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and California Assemblyman Matt Haney.

The partnership follows California’s adoption of Assembly Concurrent Resolution 129, providing a framework for cooperation in technology, clean energy, education, entrepreneurship, agriculture and other sectors.

Sanwo-Olu said the relationship was built on similarities between Lagos and California, including their technology ecosystems, creative industries, ports and climate challenges, with both sides expected to pursue business, investment and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
