Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called for stronger ties with France, citing emerging global security challenges.

Carney said the two countries will deepen cooperation, including a joint programme by their space agencies and defence ministries to develop space launch systems and ground reception facilities.

He spoke alongside French President Emmanuel Macron during a visit to the French territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
