Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved a 50 per cent increase in the judiciary’s overhead expenditure following the passage of the 2026 budget.
Fubara, represented by Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, announced the increase at the opening of the 2026/2027 Legal Year in Port Harcourt.
He said the funds will support daily operations, judicial welfare and training of judges, magistrates and staff.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to judicial independence and assured the judiciary of continued support.
Chief Judge Justice Simeon Amadi commended the government, urging judicial officers to uphold integrity, fairness and independence in the administration of justice.
