The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, has called for seamless integration of rail, road and maritime transport to reduce logistics costs and boost trade.

Speaking at the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria summit in Lagos, Opeifa said rail transport could ease pressure on highways and support the movement of agricultural produce, petroleum products and containers.

He also called for stronger public-private partnerships to bridge infrastructure gaps, while urging protection of railway assets from vandalism and encroachment.

Opeifa said an integrated transport system would improve access to jobs, markets and economic opportunities.
