The Ogun State Water Corporation has begun retrieving unused prepaid water meters across the state to protect government facilities, improve utilisation and boost revenue generation.

The exercise started on Olorunsogo Road in Abeokuta South, targeting meters that had stopped vending.

Special Adviser on SDGs and Water Resources, Damilola Otubanjo, said the move followed low utilisation of meters provided free to residents.

Otubanjo said the government had distributed more than 8,000 prepaid meters, stressing that increased water vending revenue was essential for maintenance, repairs, rehabilitation and expansion of water infrastructure.
