Kano State has emerged top in the 2026 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination, with 74,413 candidates securing at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

Lagos ranked second with 72,496 candidates, while Oyo placed third with 55,543, with Kano also retaining the top position for the second consecutive year.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf attributed the performance to sustained investment in education, including improved facilities, teacher recruitment and training, scholarships and support for indigent students.
