The Oyo State Government says it is working with the Imo State Government and security agencies to secure the safe release of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members abducted in Imo State.
The graduates were travelling from Ibadan to their orientation camps when gunmen reportedly attacked two buses along the Owerri-Onitsha Road.
Oyo Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, said the state was sharing its experience from previous kidnapping cases while cautioning that some security measures could not be made public.
He assured that efforts were ongoing to secure the victims’ safe return.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers have reduced their ransom demand from 50 million naira to 5 million naira per victim, bringing the total demand to 100 million naira from 1 billion naira
