The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has seized alcoholic beverages worth about 300 million naira packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200 millilitres in Lagos.
The agency said the enforcement operations were carried out at Ile-Epo, Ojuwoye in Mushin and Oke-Arin markets, where several cartons were confiscated and some distributors and retailers arrested.
NAFDAC said investigations showed that some traders were hoarding the prohibited products amid rising demand and prices.
It warned operators that the ban on the sale and distribution of alcoholic drinks in sachets and PET bottles below 200 millilitres remains in force.
