Kenya has confirmed its first Ebola case after a Kenyan citizen who travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo died in Nairobi.

The patient, who had lived in Congo for seven years, travelled by road to Uganda before flying to Nairobi last Saturday.

Authorities have identified 28 contacts and are tracing other passengers and crew members on his flight.

The Africa CDC is sending a support team to Kenya, while health authorities have stepped up contact tracing and burial protocols.

The Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo has recorded more than 8,000 cases and over 4,000 deaths.
