Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe has outlined plans to stabilise Nigeria’s electricity grid, expand transmission capacity and attract fresh investment, stressing that reforms must deliver measurable improvements in power supply.
Speaking at the Nigeria Energy Leadership Summit in Lagos, Tegbe identified gas shortages, overstretched transmission infrastructure, distribution losses and accumulated debts as major challenges.
He highlighted three priority energy corridors: Lagos–Ogun, Benin–Enugu–Port Harcourt, and Abuja–Kaduna–Kano.
The minister said the Federal Government had paid 1.23 trillion naira out of an estimated 3.3 trillion naira in outstanding power-sector liabilities, leaving about 2.07 trillion naira.
