The Lagos State Government has trained 150 school administrators on non-violent disciplinary methods to protect pupils and promote safer learning environments.
The training, organised by the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, targeted administrators from 150 primary and secondary schools in Education District Four.
The agency’s Executive Secretary, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the initiative would equip school heads with alternatives to corporal punishment, including counselling, positive reinforcement and peer mediation.
She stressed that discipline should not involve physical or emotional harm, adding that the programme would be extended to other education districts, with coverage of all six districts planned for 2027.
