United States Vice-President J.D. Vance has blamed the war with Iran for the Republican Party’s poor performance in the 2026 midterm elections, saying many voters who supported President Donald Trump in 2024 switched allegiance to Democrats.

In a post on X, Vance said the party’s losses were driven by public anger over the war, rising living costs, inflation and concerns about America’s foreign policy, including its relationship with Israel.

He also acknowledged that Republicans may have failed to communicate their economic policies effectively, while urging party members to learn from the defeat and rebuild.
