The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, has applauded the peaceful and orderly conduct of the local government elections held across the state on Saturday.

Speaking at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja after the voting exercise, Jimoh praised residents for their high level of compliance with the restriction on vehicular movement, which he said contributed significantly to maintaining security during the polls.

“No one was arrested for violating the movement restriction. We appreciate all residents and visitors for their cooperation. It enabled us to keep firm control of the security situation throughout the election period,” he said.

Newsmen reports that the election was conducted across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.

The police commissioner also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, for providing adequate logistics and support for officers deployed for election duties.

“This is the kind of result you get when leadership ensures that all necessary provisions are made for frontline responsibilities,” he noted.

Jimoh confirmed that there were no reports of violence or disturbances throughout the state, including in areas typically considered flashpoints.

“We closely monitored areas like Mushin, Ikorodu, FESTAC Town, Alimosho, Agege, Surulere, and Ikeja. There was no threat or incident reported in any of these locations,” he stated.

He commended officers and personnel of the command for their professionalism and dedication during the exercise.

“Our men were not only efficient but also polite. They ensured compliance with electoral rules while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere,” he added.
