Former Super Eagles winger and left-footed forward, Okwuchukwu “Allen” Waobikeze, has passed away, just days after the death of ex-Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper, Peter Rufai.

Fondly known as “Babaoo” by fans and teammates, Waobikeze was celebrated for his powerful left foot, dazzling footwork, and strong presence on the pitch. While he made only a handful of appearances for the Super Eagles due to fierce competition in the squad at the time, he was a standout figure in Nigeria’s domestic football scene.

Waobikeze featured prominently for clubs including Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, BCC Lions of Gboko, and Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland FC), where he left a lasting impact with his skill and passion for the game.

His death was confirmed on Monday by his brother, Eli Waobikeze, via a heartfelt message shared on Facebook.

Tributes have begun pouring in from fans and football stakeholders across the country, mourning the loss of a player remembered not just for his talent, but for his humility and dedication to the game.
