Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s alleged takeover by “antidemocratic forces.”
In a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu announced his immediate withdrawal from the party.
Momodu, publisher of Ovation International and a vocal participant in national political discourse, thanked the ward leadership for their long-standing support throughout his time in the party.
His defection to the ADC marks a significant moment in Edo State politics and adds weight to the growing political realignments taking shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Having joined the PDP in 2021, Momodu was a prominent figure in the party’s national engagements and contested in the party’s 2022 presidential primaries.
His departure comes amid a wave of resignations from key political figures disillusioned by the internal direction and leadership of the PDP.
