Uzodimma seeks support to tackle insecurity

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma,   has sought the cooperation and support of leaders and stakeholders in the state to tackle rising insecurity in the state.

The governor enlisted the support while speaking at a stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri, Imo State on Monday

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and properties across every part of the state.

The governor expressed his administration’s readiness to support the concept of state police, which he noted is aimed at tackling insecurity from the grassroots level, adding that the state has concluded plans to train vigilante personnel, drawn from each autonomous community, who will be well-equipped to maintain security.

He said, ‘’We have concluded plans to train vigilante personnel drawn from each autonomous  communities of the state , these personnel will be equipped to maintain security and protect lives and property in the state.’

Uzodimma also condemned the actions of miscreants who attack leaders and prominent individuals in their homes, leaving communities vulnerable to crime.

The governor used the occasion to encourage the stakeholders be proud of the party, noting that those outside the party  are just wasting their time.

He said, “I urge APC leaders to be proud of their affiliation and encourage others to join the party. Those who are outside the party are wasting their time.

“Let me shock you, the Governor of Enugu State will soon join the APC. With arrangements in place the Bayelsa State Governor to follow suit”.

Uzodinma also highlighted an ongoing federal government empowerment programme aimed at supporting businesses, lamenting that Imo State and the South East zone were lagging behind in taking advantage of this initiative, and promised state government’s assistance   in compiling   the necessary lists   to participate.
