Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Al Nassr, the Saudi Pro League club announced on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter).

“It’s official: Mr. Jorge Jesus is the new Head Coach of Al Nassr,” the statement read.

The 70-year-old tactician joins the Riyadh-based club just weeks after Cristiano Ronaldo signed a new two-year deal that will keep him at Al Nassr until 2027. The appointment reunites Jesus and Ronaldo under a shared Portuguese banner, as the club looks to end its recent trophy drought.

Jesus returns to Saudi Arabia shortly after being sacked by rivals Al Hilal in May, following their elimination in the AFC Champions League semi-finals. It was his second spell with Al Hilal, which began in 2023.

With a career spanning over three decades, Jorge Jesus has managed top sides in Portugal, including Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, as well as clubs in Brazil and Turkey. His extensive experience will be key to reviving Al Nassr’s ambitions both domestically and on the continental stage.

Despite Ronaldo finishing as the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer last season with 25 goals, Al Nassr failed to secure any major titles, including falling short in the AFC Champions League semi-finals. The arrival of Jorge Jesus signals a renewed push for silverware as the club enters a new chapter with high expectations.
